We celebrated my folks 40th wedding anniversary on 11/22. This was a surprise that my sister-in-law and I have been planning for the majority of the year. The final days of preparations had their dramatic moments, but in the end, the end result was worth it. They were indeed, surprised.
The plan (as far as they knew) was to meet Jeff and I at Matt and Toby's for an anniversary brunch in Carp. They were also picking up and bringing my maternal grandparents who just celebrated their 61st anniversary on 11/16.
When they arrived at the house, mom knew that Toby wanted her to see the bedding that Toby's mom had just finished for their new bedroom. Knowing they were coming up to look at the bedding, we all "hid" in Matt and Toby's room with printed pictures of mom and dad (in 1970's) over our own faces. When they opened the door, we all said, "Surprise!" and then revealed ourselves to them. We had a total of 26 friends and family their to help celebrate with us. We then (as you can see) dined in the master suite. During brunch we had some share a thought, story, memory of mom and dad. For those who were interested (10 of us) took a tour of S.B. on the Santa Barbara Land Shark. After the tour, we met up with most of the rest of the group and had an early dinner on the Pier.
It was a beautiful day all around and I am so glad we pulled it off! Bub and Toby also have a post on their blog, check it out!
