A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
Proverbs 31:10-12
OK. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I am reading through, The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace. Wow.
My friend and I meet at our home every Wednesday afternoon while our precious gifts are napping. During this time we chat about the chapters that we read during the week and attempt to soothe one another's wounded hearts from the conviction that we bore. This week we agreed to write out 6 verses and post them around our house where we would see them and meditate on them. Kelli has eagerly accomplished her task and sent me the verses she picked out the same afternoon! These verses & questions are a foretaste of what TEW is all about (so far)...Thanks, Kelli.
"If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with Him in Glory." Colossians 3:1-4
What is your heart set on? What is REALLY important to you? What is sucking up all your time? Seek after God with the same energy you are currently expending on idolatrous desires!
"Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important as yourself, do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." Philippians 2:3-4
Be alert of sinful pride and anxiety as an indicator that your motive is not righteous. As soon as you aware you are sinning, confess it to God. Take the time and effort to think a God-honoring thought in place of your idolatrous thought.
"Delight yourself in the Lord and HE will give you the desires of your heart." Ps. 37:4
"Search me O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts, and see if there be any hurtful way in me and lead me in an everlasting way." Psalm 139:23-24
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
Do you have a quiet confidence that God will work all things for good?
Are you studying and growing in God's word daily?
Do you have a calming affect on your family?
What I have my heart set on will make all the difference in the world in my fulfillment and my joy. Is it Christ?

It's great to see your enthusiasm about all that you're learning from this book! If I didn't have so many other books waiting on my nightstand, I would read through The Excellent Wife again. Bless you, my friend :)
