I was so proud.
Once a month the school (1st-6th) focuses on a character trait in class and in Friday chapel...this month was DILIGENCE.
There are only 8 children out of each class for the entire school year that get selected as one who exudes what the current months character trait is, and Emily was the first of the year.
During the last chapel Friday of every month, the teachers take turns up on stage calling out their student to go and receive a certificate (very official looking) which also has a free Menchie's frozen yogurt coupon and a distinguished sticker (for mom's car) that says, "Kid with Character at SCCS". Not sure I will go that far in bragging. Pride does come before the fall.
Anyway, this recognition is a surprise to the children. The Miss Flores contacted us prior to let us know she would be receiving this so we could attend the chapel.
On top of that, she and the other students from grades 2-6 get to have a pizza lunch with the Vice Principle! She is super excited.
It was awesome!
